Acklam FC v Redcar Town 'B'
Saturday 8th March 2008
Acklam entertained Redcar on a very windy day for football at The Acorn Centre.
Redcar had the wind advantage in the first half and took that advantage straight away when a good shot from their forward was not dealt with and beat the keeper after only 1 min
Acklam had to dig deep and they were rewarded after 6 mins when Alex Hamblen crossed for Adam Lane to level the scores
Redcar went back in front on 15 mins when a lovely ball over the top found the Redcar striker who was well onside despite the appeals and he finished in great style
This was turning into a very physical hard tackling game with both sides desperate not to let the other get a foot hold on the game
Jack Cubbin played a great ball down the right for Adam lane who's cross was met by Stephen Waite who sadly fired wide
Adam Lane then broke the offside trap and his shot rebounded off the keeper but Stephen Waite put his shot over the bar
Joe Stubley found Alex Hamblen who got clear of the Redcar defence and his shot was well saved by the Goalkeeper
Redcar could of increased their lead when a speculative shot bounced over Michael Easton in the Acklam goal and luckily for them also went over the bar
Half Time: Acklam FC 1 v 2 Redcar Town 'B'
Acklam had an early corner in the second half that was swung in by Alex Hamblen, it fell to the feet of Adam Lane who fired into the back off the net to make it 2-2
Within a couple of minutes Acklam had gone in front for the first time in the match when Jordan Wales cut inside from the left and fired an unstoppable right foot shot into the far corner
Joe Stubley's shot looked to be gathered by the goal keeper but some how he collided with his defender and the ball ended up in the back of the net to make it 4-2
Adam Lane hit a great cross field ball to Alex Hamblen out on the right and his shot was brilliantly blocked by the Redcar keeper, but unfortunately for him it hit Stephen Waite running in to support and crossed the line for Acklam's 5th goal
With Redcar tackling like tigers it was always likely that a miss timed tackle could result in a penalty and this happened with 10mins to go when Adam Lane was upended inside the box. Michael Hurndall just on as a substitute hit a great penalty but it was well saved by the Redcar keeper
Adam Lane completed his hat trick when a bad goal kick landed at his feet and he coolly slotted it home
Full Time: Acklam FC 6 v 2 Redcar Town 'B'
Acklam played some great football both against the wind and with it and can be very satisfied with a great win
Redcar were a hard physical team who will give anyone in the division a run for their money
The back four were brilliant in the first half when under so much pressure from both the wind and their opponents and special mention for Sandy Davison who had a good game at right back
The midfield bossed the game in both halves and played some delightful through balls for the forwards
MOM: Adam Lane he took a lot of stick from defenders today but rose to the challenge and his pace and work rate were fantastic, He is on fire at the moment and long may this continue
