Acklam FC v Trimdon United
Sunday 14th October 2007
Acklam played host to Trimdon Utd in their first home league game of the season.
Trimdon’s number 9 nearly opened the scoring early on when he struck a fierce free kick from 30yds out that was well held by Joe Parkin in the Acklam goal.
Acklam went ahead in the 2nd minute when Adam Lane put strike partner Josh McDermott through to finish well.
Acklam doubled their lead inside a minute when Josh McDermott played a ball wide to Jordan Wales who’s cross was not dealt with by the Trimdon defence and it fell to Alex Hamblen who controlled it, turned and curled a great shot into the far corner.
Trimdon broke clear and had a great 1on 1 chance to pull one back, but a great save by Joe Parkin denied them.
Alex Hamblen crossed for Adam Lane who headed just over from 10 yds out.
Adam Lane was again unlucky when he was found after a Jack Cubbin free kick, but his shot went over the bar.
Adam Lane thought he had opened his account with a close range goal after a goalmouth scramble but the referee ruled it out for offside.
Acklam’s pressure was relentless with Trimdon working hard to keep them out but the pressure did pay off when Acklam increased their lead after an early through ball from Jordan Wales set Adam Lane clear to score.
Trimdon never gave up and hit the post from a fantastic curling corner that caused panic in the Acklam defence.
Just before half time Jack Cubbin picked the ball up in his own half went forward and hit a fantastic drive from fully 30yds out to make the score 4-0.

The 2nd half was only 2mins old when Adam Lane set up Josh McDermott who volleyed past the Trimdon keeper.
Josh McDermott then hit an identical volley that the goalkeeper couldn’t hold, to make the score 6-0.
After 45mins Acklam made 3 substitutions when Michael Hurndall, Stephen Waite and Michael Easton replaced Sandy Davison, Jordan Wales and Joe Parkin.
Trimdon got a goal bck when a through set Luke Walton clear of the defence and he coolly slotted it past the advancing keeper.
Joe Stubley ran from the half way line down the left channel cut inside and shot just wide of the far post.

Josh McDermott played a brilliant ball in for Adam Lane who’s shot went just over.
He then tried an ambitious free kick from 35yds out that the keeper did very well to hold.

Josh McDermott completed the scoring with yet another fine strike after been set up by some good play from Alex Hamblen and Adam Lane
Final Score: Acklam 7- 1 Trimdon
Another very impressive performance by Acklam who got off to another great start.
We passed the ball well looked cool and composed in all areas of the pitch and scored some great goals. Adam Lane worked tirelessly throughout and was well supported by Alex Hamblen and Jack Cubbin from midfield, the defence once again were fantastic lead by their captain Gavin Stubley.
MOM: Josh McDermott
His all-round performance has been getting better every week, bringing other people into the game more and taking his chances when they have come along with some brilliant strikes.
