            Match Report

New Marske v Acklam FC

Sunday 22nd November 2009

Acklam again struggled to convert chances during a wind effected match at New Marske, and again finished on the losing side

New Marske had the wind advantage in the first half and applied all the early pressure, and from their second corner of the game they took the lead with a very good header on 9mins

Acklam came back and had a few chances to draw level through Ste Waite, Alfie Kay and a Michael Bond free kick but went in at half time only 1-0 down.

Half Time: New Marske 1 v 0 Acklam FC

Acklam now had the wind at their backs and were told to apply as much pressure on their opponents as possible.

Acklam forced a succession of corners but resolute defending by New Marske and poor finishing by Acklam kept the score the same.

Full Time: New Marske 1 v 0 Acklam FC

The first half display although not brilliant was commendable against the strong wind, and we thought we were in with a great chance when we got to half time only one down. But we just didn’t do enough in the second half. We seemed to think it would just happen and didn’t put enough thought into anything we did.

What is frustrating is this squad is more than capable to hold their own in this league but at the moment its not happening for one reason or another.

Things have to change, be it player’s positions, attitudes or players in general.

MOM: Connor Gray did everything that was asked of him in goal and helped set us up for what we thought would be a good second half
