            Match Report

Acklam FC v Saltburn Ath

Sunday 27th September 2009

On a lovely day for football Acklam played newly promoted 4th Division Champions Saltburn at the Acorn Centre

Saltburn started the game very well and Luke Moore in the Acklam goal was kept very busy throughout the first half

Saltburn had a couple of chances just wide and Acklam had a shot just over the bar from Dave Pottinger

Acklam defended very well with Dean Ellis commanding at the heart of the defence

Half Time: Acklam FC 0 v 0 Saltburn Ath

After a tactical change Acklam started to see a bit more of the ball and although they more than matched there opponents for effort never really carved out any clear cut chances, this was also down to Saltburn’s two solid centre halves who gave nothing away

Saltburn scored with a great header after a good cross from the right wing with 8mins remaining, and added a second in injury time from a dubious penalty kick.

All in all a very good advert for junior football played in the right spirit by both teams.

Full Time: Acklam FC 0 v 2 Saltburn Ath

A much improved performance by us after last weeks collapse, but we need to find a finished product at the end of good build up play

Saltburn are a good well organised team who will be in with a great shout of winning something this season, so we should take a lot of heart from pushing them all the way

MOM: Dean Ellis

Won everything he went for, on the floor or in the air. A great signing for us and long may these performances continue
