                  U14 Player Profiles 2008/2009

Callum Atterton:

Callum is a skilful fight footed player who joined us just before Xmas. He has found it difficult to break into the side but we are sure he will continue to progress and push for a regular place next season.

Lewis Bollands:

Lewis has been a revelation this season. Since the turn of the year he has taken his chance and turned in some magnificent performances. He has great technical ability and fantastic vision and tackles like a tiger.

Michael Bond:

Another player who has stepped up his performances and gained a regular place in the team this season. Midfielder who is strong and never stops running everything you need from a midfielder and has also chipped in with 3 goals this season.

Charlie Collin:

Charlie has had a terrific second season at left back. A very good tackler, quick, skilful & loves to get forward at every opportunity. Charlie scored a beauty against New Marske earlier in the season.

Sandy Davison:

A rock for us at right back. Sandy has so much passion for this club its unreal. Loves to get forward and overlap the midfield and his crosses are fantastic.

No winger likes playing against Sandy, I’m not surprised.

Sam Gowland:

Mr Versatility or what? A smashing kid who started the season as a centre forward and did very well scoring 6 goals this year. But also is our new second choice keeper and put in some terrific performances between the posts. Two clean sheets as well. You never know might even be first choice next year if he keeps going like this. Well done Sam.

Michael Hurndall:

Has grown not only in stature this year but his reading of the game has come on leaps and bounds, and this has improved his all round game. Has played both left and right full back this season and can tackle with the best of them. Well done son.

Josh McDermott:

Josh didn’t have the best of starts to the season, but after a short break came back a better player than ever. Big strong lad who gives us so much up front. His goals and work rate are vital to the success of the team.

Scored 9 goals this season, so will have to wait until next season to score his 100 as he is now stuck on 99 Career goals for Acklam

Joe Parkin:

He is the best keeper in the U14 age group and the best keeper I have ever had the

privilege to work with in 25 years of been involved in junior football. He has everything and with the right guidance and hopefully given the chance he could go on and make it in football. He is also one of our best outfield players as he proves in training.

Matthew Prior:

Matty signed from Grangetown at the start of the season and gradually made the centre half position his own with some great performances. Reads the game so well and loves a battle. He has had a great season.

Sean Speight:

Sean has had a terrific season. He has moved forward from centre half into centre midfield and been a great success. Has a great first touch and a fantastic eye for goal. I can’t speak anymore highly of this player.

Gavin Stubley:

Captain and centre half, this lad is fantastic. He is the heart of this team, and drives the team forward with his never say die attitude. When the going gets tough he gets going and stands out from the crowd.

Gavin is also the player with the most Acklam appearances with 106.

Joe Stubley:

Joe has had another remarkable season in midfield. He gives 100% in training and matches. Has a great left foot (and a decent right foot), pace, strength the lot. Scouts are now finally finding out what we have known for a while, he is the complete midfielder and could go a long way in the game. Finished top scorer with 17 goals and has played over 100 games now for Acklam FC.

Stephen Waite:

Ste has had a great season. He can play wide right or left and up front and has a great

footballing brain. He has a good eye for goal and has scored some great goals this season.

Ste can unlock defences on his own and must have the most assists of any other player this season.

Liam Walker:

Liam joined us late in the season from Stokesley just before the transfer deadline. He has great promise for next season. Can and will play in a number of position and has proved to be a great squad member.
